More than a third of America's highest paid leaders have been fired in the last 20 years, according to the institute for policy studies. Why is this happening? Is it a leadership problem or a management problem?
I believe it's an employee engagement problem. In a recent Gallup study employee engagement is at an all time low. A whopping 70% of all employees are not engaged at work. According to Dan Pontefract, 28% are actively disengaged, 45% are not engaged and 27% are engaged.

Leadership today is not an exact science, especially with the new multi-generational challenges. One thing is for certain leadership isn't something to be ignored. We must practice our leadership skills if we expect a high level of performance from our team. Forbes suggests four keys to becoming a better leader:
  • Practice delegation: Explain the vision and trust your team.
  • Practice communication: Create authentic conversations, be clear and speak directly.
  • Practice enthusiasm: Morale is linked to positive energy, check your attitude.
  • Practice accountability: Act ethically and responsibly and don't make promises you can't keep.
When we practice our leadership skills we'll feel uncomfortable at first but with commitment and perseverance the results will yield quality results.
